Messy Munchkins

Help your children learn, explore and get messy with Messy Munchkins!

We all know messy play is great for our little ones, and it’s even better if someone else can think up the fun for you (and deal with the mess!).

Tam Mason, founder of Messy Munchkins, is a qualified nursery nurse with 20 years experience working with children. She started the group in January 2019 and is passionate about creative messy and sensory play and the benefits it has on young children’s learning and development.

Based in St Erme, Truro, Messy Munchkins provides a variety of messy play and sensory activities for children from 6 months – 3 years. These activities offer stimulating, creative and investigative play and learning opportunities to promote each child’s development.

With her wealth of experience, Tam knows that parents are children’s first educators and spending quality interactive time together, learning and having fun is very important. At Messy Munchkins parents and children can enjoy time together all within a safe, welcoming and friendly environment. With the added bonus that they don’t have to worry about all the tidying up afterwards!

The learning opportunities that structured and child led messy play offers are endless. It provides opportunities for mathematical development such as learning about numbers, size and shape; encourages creativity, imagination and exploration of the senses; builds on children’s natural curiosity and interests; develops self esteem and confidence - there is no ‘right’ way to do messy play; it develops social skills such as turn taking, sharing, interaction and relationship building; provides exposure to a varied vocabulary; encourages physical development such as hand-eye coordination, body control and awareness, fine motor skills and how to use tools and equipment correctly along with many other benefits.
