St Ives Food & Drink Festival:

Top ways for the whole family to enjoy the weekend

Keep the whole family happy with a weekend of top entertainment and activities at this year’s St Ives Food and Drink Festival. Here are the top seven child-friendly highlights of the event, taking place at Porthminster Beach from May 11th-13th.1 – Eat, eat and eat! Young and old will be spoilt for choice with an artisan food and drink market and a host of traders selling everything from pulled pork, BBQ and Thai food to churros, chocolate and fudge.2 – Get hands on and create delicious meals with Little Kitchen Magicians. Enjoyed by children aged 2+, the pop up cookery school offers educational and fun workshops that promote health and wellbeing through food. Being held on Saturday and Sunday.3 – Create and take with St Ives Pottery. Make, mould and sculpt a one-of-a-kind animal, monster or mythical beast, or anything your imagination can create! Collect it at the end of the day and take the unique creation home. Suitable for all ages. 4 – Watch the experts. National and local chefs will be rustling up a variety of dishes throughout the long weekend, which is a chance to inspire a new generation of cooks. Last year, Great British Bake Off winner Frances Quinn – who is returning again in 2018 – drew a crowd of interested youngsters to watch her create edible and delicious looking sandcastles.5 - The beach! Children can spend their time building sandcastles, making sand angels or if they are feeling very bold, they could sculpt their very own sandy kitchen.6 – Music. Throughout the three-day festival, bands and musical acts will be taking to the stage to entertain the crowds. So, grab yourself a dancing partner, kick off those shoes and get jigging.7 – Play. This year the grass of the putting green will be home to many of our family-based entertainment and activities, including sports coaching and face painting (both Saturday and Sunday).*Some of these activities include a small additional charge.Tickets for St Ives Food and Drink Festival are on sale now priced at £3 for day tickets, £5 for a day and evening ticket combined and £12 for the full three-day event, which includes all day and evening entertainment. For more information and to purchase your tickets for this must-visit food festival, visit www.stivesfoodanddrinkfestival.co.ukAnd keep an eye out on the festival’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for all the latest about the event including launch of the full programme and line-up.
